Keeping a Social Distance from God?

During the first few months of lockdown, March to June of 2020, the common slogan were these five things:

  1. Thorough hand washing for 20 seconds
  2. Do not touch your eyes, ears, nose, and mouth (EENM)
  3. Mandatory face masks to be used
  4. Social Distance (6-ft distance) which includes places of worship
  5. Stay home if you are sick (after the lockdown was lifted)

Hearing and seeing the panic in people, the realness of the lockdown, and the confusion everywhere made me very concerned. I was mostly concerned about my relationship with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I was also concerned about others’ (church members and family) relationship with God. How we needed to draw closer to Him in this time of uncertainties rather than distancing ourselves from Him. I strongly believe that this was also your concern because I saw that many people sought for God during this time and they found Him. Praise God.

While concerned, I also had joy because I realized that during those rough times, there was absolutely no social distancing with the creator of heaven and earth. Our creator, God, wants everyone to come to him in any and every situation of our lives. The book of Matthew 11:28 says, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” James 4:8, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you, cleanse your hands, ye sinners: and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

Today, I want you know that with God Almighty, there is no social distancing. He enjoys fellowshipping with us, He wants us to always come to Him as it was in the beginning. Hear his words again in Genesis 3:8, “And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day…” This is the relationship and fellowship God desires from us. God wants to fellowship with you, not only in the cool of the day but always, as you come closer and nearer to Him, and deeper in the knowledge of His word.

Prayer: Lord, we thank you because you are not far from us, no social distancing with you. Only our sins can cause a social distance, but your word says if we confess our sins (please confess your sins) you will forgive us and bring us closer to you. Thank you Jesus Christ our savior for drawing us near to you daily. We will not depart from you and from your presence in Jesus Name. Amen
