A Restored Identity

A Restored Identity
1 Peter 2:9, Mark. 5: 21-34 NIV

Sometimes, I’ve had to remind myself of who I am in Christ because the thought of “I am not who I think I am” keeps resurfacing its way back into my mind. Sometimes, this negative thought makes me behave or act differently and forces me to lose focus or get distracted from God.
Have you forgotten who you are in Christ? Christ wants to change the way you think and restore your identity.
1 Peter 2 vs 9 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light”. You do not want to live a life that is trapped in a bubble, where it seems there’s no way out. The miracle of believing in who you are in Christ can restore your identity and help you live a purposeful life. It can also allow you to rethink your life on God’s level.

Let’s look at the life of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 vs 27 -29, “When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering”. This woman was identified by her issue. She had an internal bleeding that no one can see. As her bleeding started on the inside, so was her healing. She heard. She came. She thought. She touched. She got healed by her faith and was changed forever.
Where are you bleeding that no one can see?
Where are you hurting that no one can see?
You can stop anything with just a thought.

In verse 35 of the same chapter, Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering”. This lady was already healed when she touched the cloak, so why did Jesus stop? Why did he look for the person who touched him? Hear this, it is not about what he told her, it is about what he called her. He did not call her the woman of the issue of blood. He called her “daughter”. That was the first time Jesus used the word daughter in the Bible. He wanted to assure the woman that her identity has been restored permanently through her faith.

Your thoughts can restore your identity back to Christ . God wants to perform a thought transformation in your life that will allow you to stop thinking of yourself as nobody to someone who is fearfully and wonderfully made, and is important in God’s eyes.

Prayer:
God, I want you to put down every stronghold and every negative thoughts I have considered for myself. I am not my issue. I am not my temptation. I am not my discouragement.
I am not who I think I am. I am the son and daughter of God. I thank you for the miracles. I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. I believe he died and rose again to give me life. I believe I am restored by his grace. Thank you for restoring me back to life. Thank you for my permanent healing. In Jesus name Amen!

Good post. Our thought is powerful. May the Holy Spirit take charge of our thought and redirect it whenever it’s going contrary. May the Lord help us to comprehend who we are in Him. Mercy, more grace and more wisdom of God.

This is powerful, our thought is a powerful mind, which determines how strong our Faith is with Christ.
