A Thank Offering Sacrifice

Psalms 50: 14-15, “Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

Have you ever tried to give God thanks while you are going through some troubles? I have tried that and, believe me, it was not an easy task. One thing that came to my mind is that this God I am struggling to thank is still God and will always be God, regardless of my feelings towards him. This God still has control over my life and has the power to take that life away. Sometimes, we need to thank God just for who He is. Thanking Him will open a path to deliverance from our troubles. Giving God thanks during struggles, pains and difficulties is both a challenge and a sacrifice. As the psalmist stated in the above verse, “Sacrifice thank offerings to God…” This is called sacrifice because it is not an easy thing to do.

God says in Psalms 50:23 that, “those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.” What does this mean? It means that God recognizes the difficulties we may face in offering our gratitude at times, so he said those who make this sacrifice truly honor Him and to them, He is ready to offer salvation to them. He will save you from eternal destruction, He will save you from your troubles, and He will save you from those issues that are giving you sleepless nights. That is His promise. One thing to note is that things happen in our lives for a purpose and in the end, it is to give God the glory. He has called us to sacrifice thank offerings which honors and glorifies him. In my personal experience, I discover that as I begin to ponder upon the things that God has actually done for me, the easier it is to offer that sacrifice of thanksgiving. So, I encourage you to do the same; ponder on the good things and thank Jehovah for it. The more you do this, the more it will become a part of you.

During this thanksgiving event, remember to sacrifice thank offerings to God. Do not allow your current situation to dictate whether to be grateful or not. The fact that you are alive is enough because when there is life, there is hope.  Are you diagnosed with Covid-19 or other terminal illnesses? Did you lose your job during the pandemic or are you struggling to put the food on the table? Are you having family or relationship issues? Is your marriage struggling to stay together? Whatever your struggles may be, sacrifice thank offerings to God today. Your thanksgiving offerings will open the door of salvation that will save you from your troubles. Don’t forget to do that this week.  Go ahead, try it and see what God will do in your life.

Prayer: Father, purify me and make my way right so that my thank offerings will be received as honor to you. My sacrifice will not be wasted, instead it will open doors of salvation, deliverance, freedom from all bondage, and blessings from heaven. Lord, I thank you for all you have done for me so far. I thank you for my life and for giving me hope. Help me to always remember to sacrifice thank offerings to you. Amen.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Sacrifice!
